Jupiter’s Grace Carter finished the first two rounds of stroke play with a lead at the 2025 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship.
Carter, 15, played a bogey-free second round at Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Georgia on July 15 to take a one-stroke lead at 6-under (69-67) overall for the tournament.
The match play portion of competition with the round of 64 on July 16. Carter is scheduled to tee off at 11:15 a.m.
It’s been a scintillating summer of junior golf for Carter, who enters the tournament after back-to-back American Junior Golf Association tournament wins. She’s currently No. 81 in the AJGA junior girls rankings.
Carter is the reigning women’s club champion at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club in Jupiter. She is a rising freshman and played varsity golf with Brevard HEAT last season.
Boca Raton’s Chloe Kovelesky, a Wake Forest signee, also made the cut after shooting 3-over (74-71). She is tied for 39th and will face St. Petersburg’s Amelie Zalsman in match play at 1:21 p.m.
11-year-old Lake Worth phenom Bella Simões was the youngest player in the field for her debut USGA championship. She shot 9-over (74-77) and missed the cut.
The 2025 U.S. 2025 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship featured a field of 156 golfers, including No. 1 ranked Asterisk Talley, who finished as runner-up in last year’s event. Past champions include Rose Zhang and Lexi Thompson.
