The enigma that is Nate Diaz is back in the fight game. Diaz will be part of the upcoming Netflix special featuring Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, agreeing to take on Mike Perry.
Most Valuable Promotions confirmed the mixed martial arts bout between the two former UFC fighters for May 16 from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. Along with the featured fight between Rousey and Carano, former UFC champion Francis Ngannou and Felipe Lins will square off in the co-main event.
“Glad to be back in action,” Diaz said in a press release (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “It’s time. Don’t forget where this all came from. I got plans on doing a lot more in the next 10 years, no matter where it is. Time to set the bar again, so get ready for a new takeover again and again until the end of time.”
Nate Diaz will be 41 when he returns to MMA cage
Diaz, who will turn 41 years old in April, last competed inside the MMA cage in 2022 when he submitted Tony Ferguson at UFC 279. He holds a career record of 21-13 in that discipline, highlighted by a 2016 submission of Conor McGregor.
Along with being an MMA fighter, Diaz has twice competed in the boxing ring, losing to Jake Paul in 2023 and besting Jorge Masvidal in 2024.
Perry, meanwhile, went 14-8 in MMA, losing four of his last five in the UFC. His last fight for the promotion came in 2021 when he lost to Daniel Rodriguez.
After leaving the UFC, Perry thrived in bare knuckle boxing, going 6-0, including an October finish of Jeremy Stephens. He has also faced off with Paul and Kenneth McNeil in boxing matches, losing both.
‘The Real BMF’ vs. ‘King of Violence’ Live on Netflix
“The King of Violence returns to MMA to elbow his opponents in the (expletive) face,” Perry said. “Saturday, May 16, on Netflix, Nate Diaz is going lights out.”
MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian added that, “Nate Diaz is the Real BMF, and MIke Perry is the King of Violence.”
“This will be a war from the first press conference all the way to the end when one of them has their hand raised,” Bidarian said. “It’s an absolutely massive night of fights in Los Angeles.”
