TOPEKA — The postseason is starting for tennis and golf while the end of the regular season is near for volleyball, soccer and cross country. Players from the capital city are rounding into peak form and they are putting on a show.
Here are the top performances from the Topeka area from Oct. 4 to Oct. 12.

Boys
Tuesday, Oct. 8
Dylan Willingham, Washburn Rural soccer: The striker scored the lone goal for the Junior Blues as the won 1-0 on the road against Bishop Carroll.
Thursday, Oct. 10
Ian Martinez, Topeka High soccer: The left winger scored a brace in the Trojans’ 2-1 win over Manhattan. Topeka High came from behind down 1-0 before Martinez scored in the first and second half of play to help secure a big Centennial League win.
Billy Lutz, Topeka High soccer: The keeper made an acrobatic, finger-tip save to keep Topeka alive in the first half of play. It was an incredible save that saw the ball dip late and Lutz had great timing in making the reaction save above his head.
Aemon Coffman, Silver Lake cross country: The top runner for the Eagles finished in 13th place in the Osage City Invite with a time of 17:56.
Torin Culbertson, Rossville cross country: The junior was the top performer in the Osage City Invite. He crossed the finish line in a 19:25 which placed him 32nd.

Girls
Monday, Oct. 7
Emma Sweeney, Seaman tennis: The sophomore won the singles title of the United Kansas Conference Championship. She also helped the Vikings claim their third straight conference championship.
Ainzley Zulueta, Hayden tennis: The senior won the singles division of the Centennial League Championship. She helped Hayden take the Centennial League team title, too.
Emerie Catlin and Izzy Haggard, Washburn Rural tennis: The doubles team won the Centennial League Championship as they continue to have a standout season together.
Taylor Zordel, Silver Lake golf: The senior was able to take the top spot once again. Zordel won her home invitational with a 78 at Lake Shawnee Golf Course. She was five shots better than the field as the Eagles took the team title by 19 strokes.
Elley Sanders, Rossville golf: Sanders fired a round of 101 in the Silver Lake Invitational. She was the top performer for the Bulldawgs as she tied for 11th place.
Alex Baxter, Topeka West golf: The senior shot a round of 84 in the Manhattan Invitational. She was the top player for the Chargers and the top performer from the capital city as she tied for ninth place.
Colbey Stead, Washburn Rural golf: Stead was the joint top performer for the Junior Blues in the Manhattan Invitational. She shot an 89 to tie for 19th place.
Lauren Cox, Washburn Rural golf: Cox tied with Stead with an 89 tying her for 19th place in the Manhattan Invitational.

Tuesday, Oct. 8
Maegan Mills, Seaman volleyball: The senior broke the all-time record for kills in a career with 1,316. Mills passed the record against Basehor-Linwood as Seaman won the United Kansas Conference title. Kansas volleyball’s Camryn Turner held the record previously.
Campbell Chabot, Seaman volleyball: The Johnson County Community College commit broke the school record for assists in a career against Basehor-Linwood. She broke the previous record of 1,433 assists held previously by Kansas volleyball’s Camryn Turner.

Wednesday, Oct. 9
Izzy Glotzbach, Hayden golf: The junior tied with her teammate for first place in the Basehor-Linwood Invitational at Falcon Lakes Golf Club. Gotzbach shot a round of 82 to take the title.
Addyson Baer, Hayden golf: The senior tied with Glotzbach for the title of the Basehor-Linwood Invitational with a round of 82.
Thursday, Oct. 10
Carolina Chedzoy, Washburn Rural tennis: Chedzoy earned second place in singles completion of the regional tournament qualifying her next week’s state championship.
Emerie Catlin and Izzy Haggard, Washburn Rural tennis: The doubles team won the regional championship and qualified themselves for the Class 6A State Championship.
