The Club World Cup kicks off this Saturday (14) in the United States with the match between Inter Miami, the host country’s team, and Al-Ahly, from Egypt.

This will be the first of 63 matches that will take place over the next few weeks to determine a new world football champion.

FIFA has never organized such a large club tournament, involving representatives from all continents.

And OneFootball takes the opportunity to present you with the main information about the tournament.

Check out the details about the groups, rules, and the prize (which is not small) of the competition:

Groups

🇺🇸 Seattle Sounders

🇹🇳 Espérance de Tunisie

🇯🇵 Urawa Red Diamonds

🇩🇪 Borussia Dortmund

🇿🇦 Mamelodi Sundowns

Round of 16 Crossings

Group A, with Palmeiras, crosses with Group B, with Botafogo, in the round of 16.

That is, if one of them is the leader of their key and the other is second, we will have a confrontation between the last two Brazilian champions in the first phase of the knockout.

Group D, with Flamengo, crosses with Group C, which has Bayern Munich, Boca Juniors, Benfica, and Auckland City.

Group F, with Fluminense, crosses with Group E, which has Inter Milan, River Plate, Urawa Red Diamonds, and Monterrey.

Regulation

The regulation is practically the same as used in the last editions of the World Cups of teams.

The top two from each group advance to the knockout stage, which begins in the round of 16.

From there on, the qualifiers for the next phase are determined in single match duels.

The difference from the most recent world team championships is that there is no match for third place.
