Salford City boss Karl Robinson said that missing out on automatic promotion and having to settle for the League Two play-offs does not change the fact that his side have had a “very good season”.
The Ammies fell short of a top-three finish having played out a goalless draw with Crawley Town on the final day of the season, meaning Cambridge United finished third.

Robinson’s side are taking some impressive form into the post-season, however, having lost just once in their final 14 games of the regular campaign.
“You know what football is like, you don’t always get what you actually deserve,” he told BBC Radio Manchester.
“When you take things out of your own control and leave it to somebody else, we can accept that. We firmly believe that we have had a very good season.”
Salford are preparing for their first League Two play-off campaign since the 2022-23 season when they were beaten by Stockport County.
They finished 20th the following campaign, before missing out on a play-off place by a point in the 2024-25 season.

They take on Grimsby Town in the first leg of their play-off semi-final on Sunday having lost to them twice this season.
Asked what he can take from those defeats, Robinson said: “Don’t do what we did last time.
“When you’ve played them in the middle of the season, I think the problem you have is that you can be off the back of a difficult game the week before, or you can be not as fresh as them.
“We’re going to this game with a lot of players back fit.”
