FERGUS FALLS — The Willmar girls golf team wound up third Thursday in the Central Lakes Conference Championship at Pebble Lake Golf Course.
Willmar shot a 337. Detroit Lakes won with a 305 and Alexandria was second with a 326.
“Our team was voted by their fellow golfers as the sportsmanship winners in the conference,” Willmar head coach Bryan Mara said. “Proud of that one.”
Alexandria’s Ellie Sticha and Sartell’s Gwen Latunski tied for first place. Each shot 73.
Willmar’s top finisher was Lucia Martin Rodriguez, who shot a 79. Teammate Avery Olson tied for ninth with an 83.
Martin Rodriguez earned All-CLC honors, as did Kennedy Mara. Olson was an All-CLC Honorable Mention.
The CLC Championship initially was to be a two-round affair. But the first round was canceled Monday because of inclement weather.
Willmar’s next meet is the Section 8AAA tournament on May 28-29 at the Headwaters Golf Course in Park Rapids. The first round tees off at 9 a.m.

Detroit Lakes’ boys rallied to win the Central Lakes Conference Championship at Detroit Lakes.
DL finished with 597 strokes after shooting rounds of 294 and 303. Alexandria, which had a 286 in the first round at The Territory Golf Club in St. Cloud, shot a 312 to finish at 598.
Willmar finished fifth with a 636, shooting rounds of 311 and 325.
Detroit Lakes’ Lawsen Justesen earned the CLC championship with rounds of 73 and 72 for 146.
Willmar’s top finisher was Luke Larson, who tied for 16th place with a 158 after shooting 80 and 78. Anthony Cellini and Aden Jacobson tied for 23rd with 161s. Evan Michelson finished 31st with a 164.
Jacobson and teammate Luke Larson earned All-CLC honors.
Willmar heads to the two-day Section 8AAA tournament that begins at noon Wednesday at Greystone Golf Course in Sauk Centre.

NLS shot a 297. New Ulm shot a 308. Minnewaska is in fifth place at 323. Paynesville is in eighth with a 336. Montevideo is ninth at 339 and Litchfield is in 10th with a 340.
The first-round leader is New Ulm’s Jaxon Buegler, who shot a 69. Minnewaska’s Zach Gugisberg and NLS’ Gabe Truscinski are two strokes behind Buegler after shooting 71s. NLS’ Palmer Dalton and Minnewaska’s Thatcher Sherlin each shot 74 to tie for fourth.
The final round is set for 9 a.m. Wednesday at Oakdale Golf Club.
