OLIVIA — The Minnewaska boys and girls golf teams claimed a title Friday in a West Central Conference meet at Olivia Golf Club.
The Minnewaska boys shot a 165 and was led by medalist Zach Gugisberg, who carded a 37. The Lakers edged Morris/Chokio-Alberta, which had a 169. Charlie Hanson led the Tigers with a 38. Minnewaska’s Thatcher Sherlin shot a 39 to take third.
Montevideo took sixth with a 190. Benson was seventh with a 195 and BOLD finished eighth with a 206. BOLD’s Brock Beckler shot a 40 to tie for fourth place.
The Minnewaska girls put up a 164, beating Melrose’s 189. Benson finished third with 215.
Three Laker golfers finished in the top five. Arivia DeBoer was the medalist with a 3-over par 39. That was followed by Annika DeBoer, who tied with West Central Area’s Miley Dewey for second with a 40. Ava Kollman tied with Melrose’s Izzie Van Beck for fourth with a 41.

The Minnewaska boys and girls won their second meet of the day by winning the Montevideo leg of the West Central Conference tour at River Crest Public Golf Course.
The Lakers shot a 160 to beat Morris/Chokio-Alberta by six strokes. Montevideo was fifth with a 181, Benson took sixth with a 185 and BOLD was eighth with a 222.
Melrose’s Maverick Kulzer won medalist honors with a 37, edging Morris/CA’s Charlie Hanson and Minnewaska’s Zach Gugisberg, who each shot 38s. Minnewaska’s Thatcher Sherlin was tied for fourth with West Central Area’s Carter Kjesbo. Each shot 39.
In the girls’ meet, Minnewaska’s Ava Kollman shot a 2-under 34 to claim medalist honors. Arivia DeBoer was second with 40 and Annika DeBoer was fifth with a 45.
The Laker girls finished with a team score of 166, beating Melrose’s 199. Benson was third with 218.

Lac qui Parle Valley bested Lakeview by four strokes to win the team title at the Worthington Invitational at the GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness Club.
The Eagles finished with 335 while Lakeview had 339. Leading LQPV was Griffin Kranz with an 81. That was good for third place.
Lakeview’s Carson Boe was the medalist with a 73.
