Scottie Scheffler did not take kindly to being asked a LIV Golf question after his opening round at Doral.
Scheffler shot an opening round 71 to fall seven strokes behind the leading Cam Young at the Cadillac Championship, but afterward, he was asked if he thinks LIV Golf players should be allowed to return to the PGA Tour.

The world number one was in no mood to answer that question, and he replied, “I just got off the golf course. I don’t know what you want from me.” He laughed it off, but this isn’t the first time Scheffler has scoffed off a question this year.
At The Masters, Scheffler shot a 65 on Saturday to get into the mix, and a reporter asked him what score was out there for him. Again, he laughed, calling it a “horrible question”.
Golf fans, seeing Scheffler’s response to the LIV question, are completely divided in their reaction.

Golf fans are divided over Scottie Scheffler’s reaction to LIV Golf question
Some fans believe that Scheffler shouldn’t have been asked about LIV after he had a disappointing round at Doral. They thought the question was designed to create controversy, and Scheffler was right to avoid it.

One person took to X, saying, “This, from the Number one golfer in the world says it all, it’s the press fomenting hate, players like Scottie just want to see unification and play against the best week in and week out.”
Another fan related to Scheffler, saying that he probably wanted to go home after work. They posted, “honestly that might be the most relatable thing a professional athlete has said all year. sometimes you just want to go home after work.”
And some thought that it was a poor question from the reporter: “Dumb question … go ask the PGA management. He is there to play golf and play it great politics aside.”
But Scheffler was the only one, out of Jordan Spieth, Cameron Young, Brian Harman and others, to react this way, as one person pointed out: “The same question was asked to every other player post-round, Scottie was the only one who refused to answer it.”

Some fans are growing tired of the repeated instances of Scheffler being short with the media. One reacted: “Scottie becomes less likeable by the day. Spieth asked the same question and gave a great answer.”
Another fan agreed, saying, “Been saying it for months, this guy is actually a real d–k sometimes, but he talks about church and his family, so everyone just ignores it and pretends he is Mother Theresa”.
One fan pointed out that this had nothing to do with the question, and everything to do with the fact that he had just put together a disappointing round. They said, “He played poorly so he acted like a douche here. Still think he’s a good guy, but I am not as sure as I was a month ago”.
The PGA Tour needs more from Scottie Scheffler
With the LIV Golf news breaking this week and Rory McIlroy skipping the Cadillac Championship, the PGA Tour would have hoped that Scheffler would have stepped up to be the voice of the tour when asked this question.

They have a right to be disappointed in the world number one for his response to this question. To have the best player alive be the only player to dodge the LIV Golf talk, when the likes of Spieth and Young gave their thoughts, is poor.
He didn’t have to go out on a limb. Young simply said it’s been great to have Brooks back, but the rest is above my pay grade. Scheffler didn’t have to come out firing like McIlroy.
But giving no comments and dismissing the question shows that Scheffler isn’t willing to take on the responsibilities that come with being the best player alive, and that’s disappointing to see.
