After being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, free agent wide receiver Gabe Davis is set to meet with the Giants.

Davis, who overlapped with general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll in Buffalo, will spend time at the team’s facility on Wednesday, according to a report from Paul Schwartz in The New York Post.

After the Bills drafted Davis in the fourth round when Schoen was the assistant GM and Daboll the offensive coordinator, he had a fine rookie campaign, hauling in 35 balls for 599 yards and seven touchdowns.

Daboll was asked if the team had any interest in a reunion with the 26-year-old at the start of rookie minicamp, and the head coach gave a typical close-to-the-vest response.

“We’ll always look to improve roster anyway we can,” Daboll said Friday. “But these guys [the wide receivers already on the roster] have had a good Phase 2 with [quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston] there.”

The Giants are returning the top four receivers from a year ago – Malik NabersWan’Dale RobinsonDarius Slayton (who re-signed this offseason), and Jalin Hyatt.

He had his most memorable game with the Bills in the playoffs after his second season when he had eight catches for 201 yards and four touchdowns in an overtime Divisional Round loss at Kansas City. In four seasons with Buffalo, Davis totaled 163 receptions for 2,730 yards and 27 TDs in 64 regular-season games and 22 receptions for 474 yards and six TDs in seven playoff games.

Davis lasted just one season in Jacksonville after signing a three-year, $39 million deal ($24 million guaranteed). A torn meniscus in his right knee limited him to just 20 receptions for 239 yards and two scores in 10 games.
