The first women’s major championship of the year is underway and already some big names are in trouble.
The 2025 Chevron Championship kicked off Thursday at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas, outside of Houston. Haeran Ryu and Yan Liu are tied for the lead at 7 under. Hyo Joo Kim, who won a month ago in Arizona at the Ford Championship is solo third at 5 under. There’s a six-way tie for fourth at 6 under, including Lucy Li, one of those golfers still to finish her first round.
Far down the leaderboard is defending champion Nelly Korda, who shot 77 and was seen later practicing with her old mallet putter.
The purse at the Chevron is $7.9 million, with $1.2 million going to the winner.
Just like on Tuesday, weather rolled in through the The Woodlands and at 7:35 p.m. ET, the LPGA suspended play during the first round. There were 24 players still on the course when the delay was called.
Here’s everything you need to know about tee times and viewing information for the second round of the Chevron Championship. All times ET.
