The love and passion of the fight game proved too much to keep Frankie Edgar away. The former UFC champion and hall of famer has signed with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships, according to a report by ESPN.

Edgar will come out of retirement to square off with Jimmie Rivera, also an ex-UFC fighter, on October 4. The bout will take place in Edgar’s home state of New Jersey.

“I’m super excited to get back in competing, especially here in Jersey,” Edgar said.

Conor McGregor, a former UFC two-division champion who is a partial owner of BKFC, posted about signing Edgar on social media earlier this week.

A former lightweight champion, Edgar won his first title as a huge underdog vs. BJ Penn back in 2010. He also competed twice for the UFC featherweight gold against both Jose Aldo and Max Holloway.

In 2024, two years after announcing his retirement from the sport, Edgar was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

The BKFC 82 card will take place inside the Prudential Center. In the main event, Mike Perry battles Jeremy Stephens in a collision between two former UFC fighters.
