Anna Swan wins third consecutive EDWGA Stroke Play Tournament
North East graduate Anna Swan, by a record 13-shot margin, won her third consecutive EDWGA Stroke Play Tournament.
North East graduate Anna Swan will enjoy company throughout her first appearance in a United States Golf Association tournament.
That goes for the gallery, where Mike and Stacy Swan will watch the second of their three daughters compete, and aside her on the South Carolina course which hosts the 2026 Womenâs Amateur Four-Ball.
The national tournament is scheduled May 2-6 at Charlestonâs Daniel Island Club.
Swan claimed her berth for that national two-person competition with help from Jayla Kucy, a fellow Oral Roberts University sophomore. They did so with a first-place finish for an Aug. 27 qualifier held at Mayetta, Kansas, located four hours north of their Tulsa, Oklahoma, school.
The duo, at 5-under par 67, recorded a two-stroke victory at Prairie Band Casino & Resortâs Firekeeper Course. Their round was comprised of whose score was the lowest for each hole.
Swan reserved her first tee time for a USGA tournament after multiple bids over recent years.
âHonestly, this (result) is a bit of a relief,â she said. âEach (qualifying) effort takes up a lot of different resources, like time and travel. You know itâs a one-day qualifier, so you have to put a lot of mental energy into it.
âItâs nice to finally reap some of the rewards after trying to qualify for (USGA events) over and over.â
âTreat you like royaltyâ
Unlike Swan, next yearâs Womenâs Amateur Four-Ball will be Kucyâs second USGA start. The Alberta, Canada, native participated in the 2024 USGA Girls Junior at El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana, California.
Although Kucy missed the cut for the match play portion of that suburban Los Angeles tournament, itâs never dulled her overall memories.
âThey literally treat you like royalty,â she said. âAn amazing experience. Amazing. Iâm glad Iâm going back to another USGA event, and glad Iâll experience it with Anna.â
Next Mayâs Womenâs Amateur Four-Ball will occur at the end of Kucy and Swanâs second season of college golf.
Oral Robertsâ 2025-26 season also will be the last with Lydia Swan on its roster. The North East sisters were PIAA individual and team titlists during their varsity seasons as Grapepickers.
