Calgary Flames rookie phenom Dustin Wolf was named one of the Pepsi Goalie Challenge’s Top Goalies of the Week thanks to a .923 SV% in three games against the Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks, and Detroit Red Wings.

Although the 23-year-old only gave up six goals in those three contests, he finished the week 1-2-0, making 72 saves on 78 shots.

Thus far, in 2024-25, Wolf is 19-9-2 with a .917 SV% and 2.50 GAA in 30 games. He’s chasing Hall of Famer Mike Vernon for the best rookie goalie season in Flames history. In 1986-87, Vernon went 30-22-1 during his first season.

Moreover, Wolf is currently 13-4-1 at the Saddledome and is looking to become only the fifth goalie to win 20 home games in a single season with the franchise, joining Miikka Kiprusoff, Jacob Markström, Dan Bouchard (Atlanta), and Vernon.

On the weekend, the NHL announced that Wolf was named the Rookie of the Month for January, thanks to a 7-4-0 record, 2.32 GAA, and .921 SV%.

According to Draft Kings, Wolf has the third-best odds (+600) to win the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year, trailing only Macklin Celebrini (San Jose) and Lane Hutson (Montreal).

The last Flames player to win the honor was Sergei Makarov in 1989-90, becoming only the third skater behind Joe Nieuwendyk (1987-88) and Gary Suter (1985-86).
