Emanuel Emegha finds himself in the crossfire of RC Strasbourg Alsace’s fans’ ire towards the owners, BlueCo. The Dutchman’s move to partner club Chelsea was announced earlier this month, shortly after the closure of the transfer window. He will move to Stamford Bridge at the start of next season, although that move could be brought forward.
However, it is a move that has angered fans, many of whom have always had misgivings about the owners and their intentions. Anti-BlueCo and anti-multi-club-ownership protests are the norm at the Meinau and Emegha’s move has further stirred those tensions. Banners calling on the striker to give back the armband last week left Emegha “devastated”, according to Liam Rosenior.
On his return from injury this weekend, the striker scored Le Racing’s third goal in a 3-2 win away to Paris FC. He celebrated by going to the away fans and showing them the back of his shirt. The reaction was mixed, with some of the Strasbourg fans showing no reaction at all to the goal. Tense.
