After hours of speculation, the Calgary Flames and Philadelphia Flyers finally announced an official trade on Thursday night.
The Flames will welcome Joel Farabee, a former 14th overall pick from the 2018 Draft, along with Morgon Frost, the 27th overall pick in the 2017 Draft.
The pair have spent their entire careers with the Flyers. Farabee set career highs with 19 goals and 46 points in 2022-23, compiling 50 goals and 135 points in 277 games over six seasons.
Meanwhile, Frost, who didn’t finish the Flyers’ game against the New York Islanders on Thursday, is a two-time 20-goal scorer with a career-high 50 points last season. Moreover, he hasn’t missed a game in three seasons.
Going to Philadelphia, the Flames are dealing away Andrei Kuzmenko, a 28-year-old forward who came to Calgary last season in the Elias Lindholm trade.
A former 39-goal scorer, he didn’t recapture that magic in Southern Alberta, finishing his tenure with the club scoring 18 goals and 40 points in 66 games.
Another essential piece of the deal involves Jakob Pelletier heading to the East Coast following a 60-game stint with the Flames, who drafted him 26th overall in 2019.

Unfortunately, this trade came when Pelletier, on waivers as recently as October, was finding his game again. He has six points in the past eight games and is finding chemistry with Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri.
Finally, to complete the transaction, Calgary dealt away a 2025 second-round pick and a 2028 seventh-round pick. Neither team retained any salary in the trade.
