Daytona Motor Mouths: Denny Hamlin gives Martinsville a whoopin’
The guys talk Denny Hamlin and Martinsville, Brad Keselowski and Darlington and the new NASCAR commissioner, as Ken checks in from Indianapolis.
Qualifying is complete at Darlington as the annual Throwback Weekend motors ahead with an Xfinity Series race this afternoon and Sunday’s Goodyear 400, the eighth event of the 2025 Cup Series season.
William Byron, in the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy, was fastest and will start on the front row Sunday next to Ryan Preece, who posted Saturday’s second-fastest lap.
It’s yet another good sign for Preece, in his first year with RFK Racing. He’s posted three straight top-10 finishes and now has his best qualifying run of the year. His previous best start was 11th at Atlanta.
“I think confidence-wise, it feels great,” Preece said. “We felt really good in practice.”
Joey Logano is the most recent driver to see his Darlington pole win translate to Sunday victory — he did it at Darlington’s spring race three years ago.
