Ferrari is unveiling its first electric vehicle in three phases. Today, we know its name: Luce, which means “light” or “illumination” in Italian. The automaker previously detailed the vehicle’s technical specs, and now it’s showing us the interior ahead of the full reveal later this year.
Ferrari is collaborating with LoveFrom to design the vehicle, the creative collective founded by Sir Jony Ive, Apple’s former design chief—and it shows. This interior doesn’t look like your typical Ferrari cabin. In fact, it might be the closest we ever get to an Apple-inspired vehicle.
The cabin has three screens: a driver’s display, an infotainment screen, and rear-seat controls. The driver’s display consists of two overlapping panels, with the top panel featuring three cutouts that reveal the rear display, giving the aviation-inspired dials a three-dimensional appearance.
The display is attached to the steering column, so the two move in unison. The wheel is a reinterpretation of the three-spoke Nardi wood wheels of the 1950s and 1960s, with a thin rim and exposed aluminum spokes, a material used throughout the vehicle. There are dedicated physical controls on the wheel for the cruise control, drive mode selector, traction settings, windshield wipers, and suspension.
The center display, which has a palm rest, swivels, making it easier for the driver or passenger to access. It features physical controls along the bottom for heating and cooling. The screen also has a cutout, this one for a proprietary movement with four modes—clock, chronograph, compass, and launch control.
The center console has a minimalist design, with the four window switches and buttons for the door locks and trunk. The Luce features a glass key with an E-ink display that changes color from yellow to black when it’s placed in the center console holder next to the glass shifter.

‘The major interior components offer a first, tangible insight into the design philosophy behind the new Ferrari Luce.’
It also appears there will be an overhead panel featuring switches for the lights, the defroster, and launch control. The rear panel features physical HVAC controls and vehicle vitals.
Ferrari detailed the car’s technical specs last October. It will have four electric motors delivering up to 986 horsepower in Boost mode, with a claimed top speed of 192 miles per hour and a 0-62-mph time of 2.5 seconds.
Ferrari will unveil the car’s exterior in May at a special event in Italy. So far, so good.

Motor1’s Take: This first look at the Luce’s interior is proof that Ferrari’s first electric vehicle will be unlike any model before it. Whether it truly captures the essence of what a Ferrari should be is still an open question, but one we will get the answer to in just a few months. It’s hard to judge a car based on a few selected interior photos, but we are excited nonetheless.
