Liverpool and Manchester City Tracking Michael Olise Situation

Bayern Contract Talks Under Spotlight

Christian Falk has exclusively reported to Bayern Insider that “the case of Michael Olise’s contract at Bayern Munich bears some similarity to Jamal Musiala’s case – if you wait a little too long, it’s getting difficult.”.

Michael Olise’s future is very much in Bayern Munich’s hands for now, with his contract running until June 2029. The German champions are keen to reward his debut-season heroics with an improved deal, but financial considerations could complicate talks. “On the one hand, there is an argument to boost his salary in line with the quality of his performances, but on the other hand, Bayern still want to lower salaries throughout the squad. So, it’s not easy!”

Olise’s first season in Bavaria was outstanding, delivering 27 goal contributions, 12 goals and 15 assists, in 34 Bundesliga matches. That impact has inevitably attracted attention from across Europe, and Falk confirmed that “Manchester City are watching him, Liverpool are watching him.”

Liverpool’s Long-Term Vision

For Liverpool, the link is obvious. With Mo Salah turning 34 next June and entering the final year of his contract, succession planning on the right wing is a priority. Olise’s profile makes him an ideal candidate: creative, technically refined, and capable of producing numbers at the highest level.

Falk suggested that Bayern must move quickly to secure the French international’s future. “If you see such quality as Olise possesses, you have to do it much earlier, otherwise, the Premier League will be quick to swoop.”

City and Liverpool Face Tough Negotiations

Liverpool and Manchester City’s interest may not translate into a straightforward pursuit. There is no exit clause in Olise’s deal, which means any transfer would require a significant outlay. “As long as his contract is running, you have a chance to keep him. Now, Bayern need to see if they can convince him that his future is in Munich,” Falk explained.

For Liverpool, this could mean a saga reminiscent of their pursuit of Alexander Isak before his move to Newcastle. Yet Olise’s ceiling makes the chase worthwhile, particularly for a side that has already invested heavily in future stars like Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.

What This Means for Bayern

Bayern must now balance their wage structure with the reality that Olise is already a cornerstone of their attack. If they delay too long, interest from the Premier League may become overwhelming. This season may well be pivotal for both Bayern’s contract plans and Liverpool’s long-term transfer strategy.

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

For Liverpool, Michael Olise looks like the perfect candidate to take over the right-wing role when Salah eventually departs. His output in his first Bundesliga season was exceptional, and it shows he can thrive under pressure in a top European league. Liverpool’s recruitment under Arne Slot has been smart, targeting younger players who can grow into the team. Adding Olise to that mix would give the Reds another creative weapon capable of breaking down stubborn defences.

There is always risk in waiting, and the longer Bayern hold off on tying him down to improved terms, the more chance Liverpool will sense an opportunity. A fee north of £80m would not be surprising given his trajectory, but the club have shown willingness to invest when the right player becomes available.

Fans will be watching this story closely, particularly with Manchester City also circling. If Liverpool want to maintain their momentum at the top of English football, winning battles like this in the transfer market will be crucial.
