Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois meet in what promises to be an explosive Battle of Britain on Saturday night, with the WBO heavyweight title on the line.
Wardley makes his first defence of the belt, having been upgraded from interim champion following his thrilling 11th-round win over Joseph Parker last October.
Dubois is certainly an eye-catching choice as a voluntary challenger. The former IBF champion is straight back into championship action after suffering a second loss to their great Oleksandr Usyk in their July 2025 rematch.
Back with trainer Don Charles after their brief split in the aftermath of the Usyk defeat, Dubois tipped the scales at a career-high weight of 251.7 pounds at Friday’s weigh-in. Wardley was a quarter of a pound over the 242lbs mark he has been around for his excellent recent wins over Parker, Justis Huni and Frazer Clarke.
The undercard boasts international talent in the form of Cuban light heavyweight David Morrell, who faces Zak Chelli after his bout with Callum Smith was scuppered by an injury to the Liverpudlian last month. Uzbekistan’s two-time Olympic super-heavyweight champion Bakhodir Jalolov is also in action.
Former British champions Jack Rafferty and Ekow Essuman clash in an excellent welterweight showdown, while Manchester’s Bradley Rea versus Liam Cameron promises to be an all-action domestic dust-up at light heavyweight.
The Sporting News is following the Wardley vs. Dubois card, updating live results before providing full round-by-round coverage of the main event.
