Everton are reportedly plotting a sensational move for Manchester City defender John Stones.
The Toffees have had an impressive 2025-26 campaign, as they sit just three points behind fifth-placed Liverpool in the Premier League table.

Everton are expected to operate carefully in the transfer market this summer, with the club focusing on free transfers and low-cost deals.
This strategy could lead them to pursue a move for Stones, who played for the Merseyside club between 2013 and 2016.
According to talkSPORT, Everton are among the clubs monitoring Stones, who will be out of contract at the end of this season.
The centre-back is not expected to be offered a new deal at City.
Stones has made 292 appearances across all competitions since joining the Citizens, scoring 19 goals in the process.
He has helped his side win six Premier League titles and a Champions League.

But the England international has endured a challenging 2025-26 season, as he has made only four league starts due to injury issues.
Stones is a world-class defender who brings plenty of experience, success and winning mentality.
The 31-year-old mainly operates in central defence, but can also play at right-back or step into midfield. He is highly rated for his passing ability and tactical intelligence.
Re-signing Stones would be a smart decision for Everton, as they wouldn’t have to pay a transfer fee.
But it remains to be seen whether they make a concrete move in the summer given the player’s recent injury record.
