SOAP LAKE — On Saturday, Aug. 16, the Alpha Omega chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha will be holding a charity golf tournament at Lakeview Golf and Country Club. ESA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and money for local charities and families in need, event organizer Abby Smith said.
“People are always very gracious and thankful, and that’s why we do what we do, is for that response … we want people to come out and have fun. We want them to play and we really encourage the fact that you don’t need to be a good golfer to play in our tournament. It’s a fun, charitable event,” she said.
The tournament will start at 10 a.m. Saturday with a shotgun tee-off. Smith said they decided to reformat the tournament this year. It will be a four person scramble, which is four person teams.
Throughout the day, golfers will have the chance to participate in optional side games like a hole-in-one putting contest, mulligans, a 150 yard tee-off for deuce at Par Five and a long drive. Golfers will have chance to win prizes in a raffle, as well. Smith said prizes include a pizza oven, golf cart heater, a range finder and several more.
All proceeds from the golf tournament will toward several charities and community organizations. Smith mentioned Kids Hope of Moses Lake, Soap Lake Food Bank, Soap Lake Senior Center and families in need.
Anyone interested in registering for the tournament can in person or online. For online, email [email protected] with team information and Golf Entry as the subject line. For in-person registration, Smith said she would take new golfers up to the day of the tournament.
