An England international could join Liverpool this summer. The Reds are reportedly keen on a deal.

There’s no doubt that Liverpool need to look at their left-backs this summer. Andy Robertson will depart after an incredible career at Anfield – one that saw him go down as one of the absolute greatest we’ve seen in the position.

All good things do come to an end, though. Robertson will leave and with that, the squad is down an elite left-back.

Milos Kerkez needs both competition and cover, and while Kostas Tsimikas will return from his loan spell, it’s unlikely that he gets the nod for a place in the squad. Instead, Liverpool will likely enter the transfer market once again.

Teamtalk has a report on at least one target for the position. They claim that Liverpool are big fans of Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall, though they’re far from alone in that.

The Reds are supposedly ‘keen’ on a move for Hall, viewing him as one of the best possible options. Though, we’re not entirely sure a deal is possible.

Newcastle aren’t exactly fans of Liverpool after last summer’s Alexander Isak debacle and Hall would cost a lot of money even if they were willing sellers. Would the club really want to spend big on another left-back just one year after a record-setting fee for Kerkez?

We’re not so sure. If Hall were available, Liverpool would almost certainly take a look. It’s just difficult to believe at this stage that they’d pay the kind of money required to secure him.

Lewis Hall: Situation Summary

Newcastle United Performance and Stats

As of 23 May 2026, Lewis Hall is concluding a highly productive campaign on a personal level for Newcastle United. The 21-year-old left-back has been a standout performer for Eddie Howe’s side this season, making 29 Premier League appearances and logging 2,089 minutes. He has contributed one goal and one assist domestically, most recently playing the full 90 minutes and picking up a yellow card in a 3–1 victory over West Ham United on 17 May. According to FotMob, he has maintained a strong average rating of 7.01 across the league season.

Shock World Cup Omission

In a decision that has caused widespread astonishment across the footballing world, England manager Thomas Tuchel completely omitted Hall from his final 26-man squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup. Despite nominating him for the Young Premier League Player of the Season and starting him in friendlies against Uruguay and Japan in March, Tuchel opted to select Tottenham’s Djed Spence and Nico O’Reilly instead. The decision to take only one natural left-back to North America has drawn heavy media criticism.

Transfer Speculation

With Newcastle facing a season without European football, the club may have to balance the books by selling valuable assets. Hall has been identified as a “dream” left-back signing for Manchester United, who are prioritising competition for the injury-prone Luke Shaw. Newcastle reportedly value the defender at £55 million, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and German heavyweights Bayern Munich also tracking his situation closely.
