It’s Mexico vs. the Philippines with gold on the line when Emanuel Navarrete defends the WBO super featherweight title on May 10 against Charly Suarez. The fight airs on Fubo and ESPN+ in the U.S.
Navarrete (39-2-1), a multi-division champion, won the WBO super featherweight title in February 2023. He last fought in December, successfully defending the belt against Oscar Valdez. “Vaquero” has attempted to win lightweight gold but has found success at 130.
A lightweight fight against Denys Berinchyk did not go his way. This time, he hopes for a different outcome in San Diego, a home away from home.
“We know what happened the last time I was in San Diego. We did not get the victory. We lost against Denys Berinchyk in our attempt to win a title at 135 pounds. But now, defending at 130 pounds, we want to let the people know I’m ready to move forward with my career,” Navarrete said.
