An away win over Nürnberg this weekend leaves 2. Bundesliga outfit Elversberg very much in the promotion hunt. The rapidly rising Saarland club reportedly seeks to obtain one of VfB Stuttgart’s rapid risers on loan. Sky Germany claims Jarzinho Malanga is on Elversberg’s wish list.

Elversberg turn their attention to a league that they themselves not long ago played in. Malanga has served as one of the brighter spots for the Stuttgart reserves during a disappointing 3. Liga campaign.

VfB II earned promotion to the German third division last season, but appear likely to be relegated back to the Regionalliga. Malanga, meanwhile, has scored two goals and contributed four assists in 29 3. Liga appearances.

The 18-year-old attacker has also gotten a taste of Champions League action as part of VfB head coach Sebastian Hoeneß’ UCL squad. Malanga made three brief UCL relief appearances and also featured briefly for Hoeneß in the Pokal.

Elversberg have garnered a reputation for helping promising youngsters further their development. Nick Woltemade, Paul Wanner, Fisnik Asllani, Muhammed Damar and Elias Baum have all refined their game at Elversberg in recent years.
