Edgar Berlanga returns to action and looks to impress in front of a hometown New York crowd on July 12. The Ring III event, emanating from Louis Armstrong Stadium in Flushing, airs on DAZN.
In the main event, Berlanga (23-1) faces off against Hamzah Sheeraz.
It’s the second biggest fight of Berlanga’s young career. The 28-year-old lost against Canelo Alvarez last September for super middleweight gold. The two-time amateur medalist has 18 wins via knockout.
Sheeraz (21-0-1) fought Carlos Adames to a controversial draw for the WBC middleweight title. The 26-year-old former Commonwealth and European moves up in weight as he looks to compete for gold once again.
Berlanga has run his mouth all week, and Sheeraz hopes he can back it up in the ring.
“It’s not hard for me [to keep my cool] because I don’t emotionally get involved in much to be fair. I’m pretty calm, and I know as long as that switch comes on fight night, he’ll regret what he said,” Sheeraz said to Boxing Social via Bad Left Hook.
