Bowling Green head coach and former Tennessee Titans star running back Eddie George is unimpressed with the recent front office turnover in Nashville.
George recently spoke with Mike Organ of the Nashville Tennessean about watching the Titans go through two general managers and play under three head coaches since 2023.
According to George, the Titans’ frequent front-office firings have set the franchise back “at least a decade and maybe more.”
George’s comments come shortly after the Titans fired former head coach Brian Callahan following a 1-5 start to the 2025 season.
“I’m sad to see Brian get fired,” George told Organ. “Being in this profession I know how hard it is to win and try to build something. I don’t know if he was given the proper time to do that. It’s a results business and they didn’t think it was the right fit.”
Callahan’s dismissal was the latest in what has been a busy few years of front office turnover under Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk.
The Titans dismissed former head coach Mike Vrabel and hired Callahan ahead of the 2024 season. Then team then fired former general manager Ran Carthon and hired Mike Borgonzi before the 2025 campaign.
The first indication that Callahan was next came when the former head coach gave up his usual play-calling duties ahead of Week 4. The Titans ultimately announced his dismissal ahead of Week 7.
None of those changes have yet succeeded in making the Titans a more competitive team.
Tennessee lost interim head coach Mike McCoy’s debut against Vrabel and the New England Patriots last Sunday, and the 1-6 Titans remain in danger of finishing with a worse record than last season’s 3-14 squad.
George told Organ he believes the Titans will need to find a “culture” and “identity” in order to find success under their next head coach.
“What is the culture in the building? I can speak to that because I know what it was like when I was there,” George told Organ. “We had a blueprint. We had an identity. What do you want to be that’s sustainable.
“I think that’s a question for Amy, the GM and the president, and then they have to find a coach they can be on the same page with. How are you going to build this out? How much time are you going to give this person? It’s not going to happen overnight.”
George was a member of the 1999 Titans team that went to Super Bowl XXXIV under head coach Jeff Fisher, who spent 17 years with the franchise.
McCoy, who is heading into his second game as interim head coach, won’t yet have such lofty aspirations. He’ll be focused on helping his roster compete with one of the hottest teams in the NFL on Sunday when Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts host the Titans in Week 8.
