Tonight marked the sixteenth Philadelphia Eagles training camp practice ahead of the 2026 NFL season. Here’s what I observed from the team’s one and only public session of the summer at Lincoln Financial Field!
EAGLES PRACTICE NOTES
-
EAGLES INJURY REPORT:
-
IN-PRACTICE INJURIES:
-
OT Lane Johnson seemed to get banged up early in practice. He went to the sideline and talked to a trainer. He remained on the sideline for the rest of practice with a helmet in his hand. He did seem to be shaking his left leg around at times. Fred Johnson filled in for Lane at right tackle (no practice for Markel Bell).
-
DT Jordan Davis suffered an upper body injury and was looked at by trainers. He put a brace on his arm and returned to team drills.
-
TE E.J. Jenkins suffered an upper body injury and was looked at by trainers.
-
-
DID NOT PARTICIPATE:
-
OT Markel Bell (thumb/leg)
-
S Cole Wisniewski (concussion)
-
REMOVED FROM THE INJURY REPORT:
-
OG Willie Lampkin
-
Lampkin got banged up on Saturday night and missed Monday’s practice.
-
-
RB Dameon Pierce
-
Pierce missed a lot of camp before recently returning to practice in a limited capacity. Now he’s full go.
-
-
DT Byron Young
-
Young was limited on Monday.
-
-
DT Gabe Hall
-
Hall wasn’t actually on the injury report but he did appear to get banged up on Monday. Apparently he’s OK.

JALEN HURTS UPDATE: It was hardly all bad for Hurts but there was ultimately more bad than good.
-
THE GOOD:
-
Hurts rolled right and threw across his body (he continues to do this more often than he has in the past, mostly for better than for worse this summer) to find Dontayvion Wicks for a good gain.
-
Hurts threw a nice ball to Saquon Barkley, who made an over-the-shoulder touchdown grab with Zack Baun trailing (see video below).
-
-
-
JALEN HURTS UPDATE (continued):
-
THE GOOD:
-
Hurts found DeVonta again, this time in stride on a dig, to beat a trailing Woolen who was not in position to make a tackle after the catch. Lots of YAC for Smitty (see video below).
-
Hurts threw touchdown passes to both Makai Lemon and Hollywood Brown, though I’d give more credit there to scheme/design. Lemon was left wide open by the defense after beginning the play lined up in the backfield. Brown got open after Andrew Mukuba moved up closer to the line of scrimmage and bumped into Woolen. See videos below:

-
JALEN HURTS UPDATE (continued):
-
THE GOOD:
-
Hurts started a two-minute drive with back-to-back chunk gains with completions to Barkley along the left sideline and Dontayvion Wicks over the middle (ball was placed a little behind the receiver). The end of that series, however …
-
-
THE BAD:
-
Picking up from the last bullet point, Hurts threw a pick six to Riq Woolen on a ball intended for DeVonta along the right sideline. This was Woolen’s second interception of the night; he previously undercut a Lemon route over the middle of the field to come up with a takeaway. See videos below:

JALEN HURTS UPDATE (continued):
-
THE BAD:
-
As I’ve previously noted, Hurts has thrown a lot of interceptions this summer. Certainly much more than he has in previous training camps (Eliot Shorr-Parks’ charting says 13 INTs … after having 15 in the last four training camps combined). Is this the end of the world? No. Well, I’m sure the ever-so turnover-averse Nick “End every drive with a kick” Sirianni doesn’t love it. And it’s obviously not ideal. But I don’t think it would be accurate to say he’s had a bad summer just because he’s thrown a lot of picks. After watching the offense go overboard on turnover avoidance at all costs last season, I think it’s good to see Hurts taking some more chances. The offense has had good moments, just as there were some tonight. But there’s obviously a balance to be struck between being aggressive and being reckless. I don’t think Hurts has been the latter. But we’ll see if this trend carries over into the regular season or not.
-
Hurts threw a pass to Lemon on a slant that was knocked down by Quinyon Mitchell.
-
A Hurts deep shot to DeVonta Smith was a bit underthrown. DeVonta still had a chance to make the play, which he didn’t … in part because Mitchell was able to make up ground while DeVonta slowed down. See video below:

JALEN HURTS UPDATE (continued):
-
THE BAD:
-
Hurts threw wide and out of bounds to DeVonta on a play where it looked like the ball kinda slipped out of his hand.
-
Hurts overthrew Wicks deep on a play where he was probably “sacked” anyway.
-
Hurts rolled left and wasn’t able to get the ball within Lemon’s catch radius.
-
-
-
Let’s talk Riq Woolen! Well, we’ve already mentioned him. But just wanted to stress that he had a strong night with the two picks. As we said last week, it’s not always going to be pretty with him. He will be frustrating at times. But while there might be some low lows, there will also be pretty high highs. He’s a playmaker and a net positive.
-
Kinda feel like Nolan Smith is being slept on. He beat Lane Johnson (!) to the inside to notch a “sack” on Hurts early in practice. Not sure if this was the rep where Lane got banged up. Smith’s been overshadowed by Jalyx Hunt’s ascent to potential stardom but he’s no chopped liver.
-
Speaking of Jalyx, he was cooking Fred Johnson tonight. There was a rep where he beat Big Fred around the edge for what probably would’ve been a strip-sack by getting to Hurts in his windup. Hunt also had a nice rep in coverage where he was in position to blow up DeVonta Smith in the flat after a short reception from under center play-action.
-
Drew Kendall logged first-team left guard reps tonight with Dickerson resting.
-
Tank Bigsby had a couple nice runs that looked like they would’ve went for big gains.
-
BACKUP QUARTERBACK BATTLE UPDATE: Andy Dalton was first up at QB2 tonight. He overthrew Darius Cooper to the left side, not unlike how the veteran previously missed Cooper and Eli Stowers on Saturday night. Dalton did later hit a crossing Elijah Moore, who was schemed wide open, for a catch-and-run touchdown. Tanner McKee threw a good ball to Hollywood Brown along the right sideline at one point. He also made another connection with Darius Cooper to move the offense into plus territory during a two-minute drill towards the end of practice. McKee also found Moore to get into field goal range before the drive ultimately stalled just outside of the red zone.
-
Darius Cooper had a couple nice catches tonight. He also had a bad drop and there was a rep where it didn’t look like he was on the same page as McKee. Even so, I’d argue that Cooper is more ready to contribute early in the season than Lemon is. Obviously, the Eagles’ 2026 first-round pick is making his way back from injury. It’s possible that Lemon will look more ready by the time Week 1 is here. Or maybe he won’t but the Eagles playing him to work out the kinks will pay off later in the season. But if the Eagles had to play a game today, Cooper is one of the Eagles’ best three receivers at this moment in time.
-
The Eagles’ defense was all over designed touches to Lemon. Hurts and Lemon have also yet to totally sync up.
-
Jose Ramirez doesn’t have a chance to make the roster, in part because the Eagles are really deep at edge rusher. But he’s popped in practice and the preseason games. Would be a good guy to get on the practice squad. He was pretty dominant in his final year at Eastern Michigan, when he logged 19.5 TFLs and 12 sacks in 12 games played. Ramirez showed up with a TFL tonight.
-
With Lane Johnson getting banged up, Markel Bell not practicing, and Fred Johnson filling in at right tackle, John Ojukwu saw some first-team left tackle action with Jordan Mailata getting some reps off.
-
No fight this time around but Moro Ojomo drove Fred Johnson multiple yards into the backfield on a rep where Barkley was stopped for just a short gain to bring up a fourth down.
-
For those wondering why the players were wearing jerseys with bright green numbers, it’s to promote the Eagles Autism Foundation. They’ll be auctioned off for charity if you want to get your hands on one.
-
Today I learned that former Eagles long snapper Jon Dorenbos has really long hair now.
-
Jolene by Dolly Parton was played on the speakers at The Linc after tonight’s practice. RIP.
