In his first game against his former team, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley acknowledged he did a little more trash-talking than normal during a 28-3 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday.

“I probably talked a little more s–t today than I usually do,” Barkley said, per The Athletic’s Brooks Kubena.

Barkley ran for 176 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries, adding two receptions for 11 yards.

After spending the first six years of his career with the Giants, Barkley signed with the rival Eagles on a three-year contract. His addition provides even more star power to a talented Philadelphia offense that includes quarterback Jalen Hurts and receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

It didn’t take Barkley long to show how valuable he can be to the Eagles, as he rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns while adding two catches for 23 yards and another score in the team’s Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers. He has 658 rushing yards and five touchdowns through six games, adding 103 receiving yards and one touchdown through the air.

In 2023 with New York, Barkley rushed for 962 yards and six touchdowns on 247 carries while adding 41 catches for 280 yards and four more scores. An ankle sprain in Week 2 cost him three games during the regular season, but he proved he can still be dominant when healthy.

It was just two years ago that Barkley posted career highs of 295 carries and 1,312 rushing yards in 16 games on his way to earning his second Pro Bowl selection.

Behind Barkley’s strong performance, Philadelphia is off to a 4-2 start this season.
