Dallas Goedert and the Eagles have agreed to terms on a one-year contract, helping Philadelphia avoid a dead cap hit of over $20 million, according to multiple reports.

The Eagles have had their hands full as they’ve tried to balance Goedert’s situation along with trade talks surrounding star wide receiver A.J. Brown.

The organization and Goedert had agreed to push back the void date several times while attempting to work out a deal and delaying his free agency.

The deal now allows the Eagles more financial wiggle room.

Goedert had been the subject of trade rumors himself last season as he entered the final year of his contract with the Eagles, but the two sides ended up reworking his deal to pay him $10 million with an additional $1 million in incentives.

The Eagles’ tight end played a big role in the team’s offense in 2025, setting a new career best with 60 catches for 591 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns.

Goedert has spent eight years in the NFL since the Eagles took him in the second round of the 2018.

In his eight years, Goedert has had 409 catches for 4,676 yards and 35 touchdowns.

Now at 31 years old, the tight end could still prove to be an important part of the Eagles’ offense in 2026, but the decision to only sign him for one year signals that the organization is starting to prepare for the future at the tight end position.
