Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin, who has requested a trade, had announced plans this month to show up for training camp.
But he won’t take part in early on-ice sessions for a different reason.

Red Wings interim GM Shawn Horcoff announced on Wednesday, Sept. 16, that Larkin would miss the start of camp because of an upper-body injury he suffered while he was training during the offseason.
He said the hope is Larkin can return before the end of camp, which runs from Thursday through Sunday, but he doesn’t have a timeline at the moment.
