Iowa State (+3) vs. Kansas State

In this top 25 Big 12 showdown to start the season, the model expects a strong start from the Cyclones. Iowa State has defeated Kansas State in four of the last five meetings. Quarterback Rocco Becht returns for Iowa State after tossing 3,505 passing yards and 25 passing touchdowns. On the Wildcats’ sideline, Avery Johnson threw for 2,712 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. Despite both quarterbacks being some of the best in the conference, the model has the Cyclones covering the spread in well over 50% of the simulations.

Fresno State +13.5 vs. Kansas (-115)

Fresno State is rolling out E.J. Warner, the son of Hall of Famer Kurt Warner, as its starting quarterback on Saturday. Warner won a three-way battle for the starting job after transferring from Rice for his senior season. While turnovers have been an issue for him, he also racked up 58 passing touchdowns over the past three seasons. Kansas got off to a bad start last season, and the model has the Jayhawks coming up short of covering the spread on Saturday, as Fresno State is covering in well over 50% of simulations.

Stanford moneyline (+114) vs. Hawaii

The Stanford Cardinal went 3-9 last season, and they hired Andrew Luck as the interim GM in November 2024. That led to them hiring Frank Reich as the head coach. Meanwhile, the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors went 5-7 last season and haven’t been bowl-eligible since 2019. Timmy Chang goes into his fourth season with Hawaii and owns a 13-25 record. Stanford has 11 starters returning, and the model projects the Cardinal to win in almost 60% of simulations.
