Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill claimed that American track and field sprinter Noah Lyles, the current world’s fastest man after winning gold at last summer’s Paris Olympics, “should be” scared to face him in a 40-yard dash.

Hill made his remarks on the Fantasy Football Happy Hour podcast with Matthew Berry (7:50 mark).

“Let’s just keep a spade of spade,” Hill began, when asked if there was a realistic chance he and Lyles could race. “Noah Lyles is scared.”

When asked if Lyles should be scared of him in a 40-yard dash, Hill replied:

“I mean, yes. He should be. He should be, man, because when you think of a smaller stature guy like myself, I have great turnover.

“So my start is gonna be tremendous, versus his start. He’s kind of a taller guy, so he needs time to build up his speed, you know.

“I’m really hoping for us to, you know, get a race going. My team obviously been talking to his team this whole entire offseason. They just told me to stay in shape, which is what I’m doing, like, as soon as our season was over with, I started working out.

“Like, I started training on the track, I started lifting weights, do what I gotta do, pulling sleighs. Whatever I gotta do, man, so I’m really looking forward to it, man.”

The two have been talking trash of late.

Lyles had a message for Hill after winning the 60m at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix last Sunday. Hill had a quick response.

“Following the Paris Olympics in August, the Dolphins receiver said he would beat the gold medalist in a race, trolling Lyles. Hill encouraged Lyles to sign a contract for a 50-yard race,” Gharib wrote.

“A month later, the track star said on SportsCenter that the two were in talks to run a 60-yard race. However, nothing has come to fruition yet.”

After the win, Lyles had more words outside what he wrote on paper.

At this point, this is playing out like two boxers or MMA fighters talking trash through the media in a long, drawn-out process before their camps finally come to an agreement on a fight.

One can surmise this will happen at some point, but Hill and Lyles are certainly doing their part building up the hype and suspense for this race.
