It’s no secret that the Miami Dolphins are relying heavily on their rookies on both sides of the ball this season. Between receivers Caleb Douglas and Chris Bell, offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor, cornerback Chris Johnson and others, Miami leads the National Football League in most snaps taken by rookies through three games into the 2026 NFL season.
During week three, one of their defensive noobies turned in a potentially award-winning performance.

Rookie linebacker Jacob Rodriguez has been nominated for the Pepsi Rookie of the Week award for his 6 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and one dazzling interception performance against the Kansas City Chiefs this past Sunday. He is tied for 7th overall in tackles this season with 28.
Rodriguez is the only non-first round selection to be nominated this week — as Jeremiyah Love (3rd overall to the Arizona Cardinals), Arvell Reese (5th overall to the New York Giants) and Kenyon Sadiq (16th overall to the New York Jets) are his competition.
