Speaking to TalkSport, world title contender Derek Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) has revealed who the greatest opponent he has shared the ring with is, simply stating, “Usyk,” without hesitation. “You can’t box that guy. He’s an animal.”
Chisora fought Usyk in October 2020. After becoming undisputed at cruiserweight, the history-making Ukrainian moved up to heavyweight for his next challenge. His debut at the weight came against Chazz Witherspoon in October 2019, stopping the son of Tim Witherspoon after seven one-sided rounds.
It was over a year later when Usyk came to England to challenge Chisora for his WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight title.
Chisora certainly made things uncomfortable for the visitor, setting a high pace, but it was a clear win for the challenger.
Delboy continued to praise Usyk, “I have shared the ring with a lot of top fighters, but there’s no doubt it’s Usyk, because the way he gets you going, his movement is there. Every time you have to adjust, do you understand?”
Usyk is back in the UK for his next fight against Daniel Dubois on July 19 at Wembley Stadium. It’ll be the first-ever undisputed heavyweight match to take place on UK soil.
Meanwhile, Chisora is searching for an opponent for his 50th fight.
