Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs) will face Tyrrell Anthony Herndon (24-5, 15 KOs) on Saturday, June 27, at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas.

The 39-year-old former long-standing WBC world heavyweight champion has plans to fight or another world title, despite winning just once from his last five fights.

Promoters Nelson Lopez and Joshua Chasse of Global Combat Collective announced that ‘The Bronze Bomber’ would be headlining their June 27 show in Kansas.

Chasse said, “This is Wilder’s legacy reloaded, he’s still one of the hardest punchers in boxing.

“He’s on the road back to becoming the heavyweight champion of the world, and this is first step.”

Wilder reportedly underwent surgery after his last loss to Zhilei Zhang in June 2024 to fix an ongoing, long-term injury.

Trainer Malik Scott has been very vocal on Wilder’s behalf about who he wants to face, “As for the biggest fight, it could be against [Francis] Ngannou or AJ [Anthony Joshua]. They are still mega fights.

“[The fight with] AJ maybe doesn’t have the same juice it once did, but it would still sell out any arena or stadium.”

Who is Tyrell Herndon?

Born July 29, 1987, Tyrell Anthony Herndon is 37-years-old from San Antonio, Texas.

He is managed by Thomas Hirschmann, who also looks after unbeaten heavyweight, Austin Benson (5-0, 4 KOs).

He stands at 6′ 3″ and has a 62.5% KO ratio.

The Texan has won an ABF American West heavyweight title.

He has boxed 100 rounds over his 29 pro bouts.

He lost to Efe Ajagba on the Nigerian’s pro debut in 2017. The future WBC Silver champion stopped Herndon within 90 seconds.

His last loss came at the hands of undefeated rising heavyweight prospect, Richard Torrez Jr. (12-0, 11 KOs).
