Josh Herrin has done it again.
And again.
And again.
Herrin’s second Daytona 200 victory came in 2023, 13 years after his first. He wasted little time in running his total to four. Sunday, he became the first rider to win this historic cycle race three straight years. The race history dates back to 1937 on Daytona’s beach-and-road course.
Aboard a Ducati, Herrin finished 5.3 seconds ahead of Richie Escalante’s Suzuki. Tyler Scott was nearly side-by-side with Escalante at the stripe and finished third.
Englishman Peter Hickman and two-time Daytona champ Brandon Paasch, both riding Triumphs, rounded out the top five through 57 laps on the 3.51-mile road course, which is almost identical to the course used for the Rolex 24.
Saturday’s 200 included a mid-race red flag due to a passing rain shower, and a shorter stoppage after a nasty spill on the restart.
Saturday’s cycle racing capped the all-encompassing 2025 “Speed Weeks” at Daytona International Speedway. It started in January with the Rolex 24, continued in February with NASCAR’s visit and the Daytona 500, and wrapped up in March with the Daytona SuperCross, American Flat Track action, and MotoAmerica road-racing on the Speedway’s road course.
Super Hooligan, Twins Cup see tight finishes
In earlier Saturday action, Harley-Davidson swept the top five finishing spots in the Super Hooligan 6-lap race. Jake Lewis finished just ahead of Travis Wyman, by less than a tenth of a second. Cory West finished third in a tight battle that saw the top six finish within four-tenths of a second.
Next up, the Twins Cup nearly matched the Hooligans with its own close finish, as four riders crossed stripe within a tenth of a second of each other. Matthew Chapin, on a Suzuki, got the win by .019 over Alessandro DiMario.
