Dave Allen has landed another big-time fight in the heavyweight division.

The popular Brit will take on Filip Hrgovic on May 16 at the Eco Powers Stadium in Allen’s hometown of Doncaster, England, Queensberry confirmed to Uncrowned on Friday. Allen vs. Hrgovic will stream on DAZN.

Allen pulled off the biggest win of his career this past May by stopping heavyweight prospect Johnny Fisher in London. The win reignited Allen’s career at the top level and allowed him to face Arslanbek Makhmudov — who battles Tyson Fury next month — in October 2025.

Although Allen fell short against Makhmudov, he made the fight competitive and had his fair share of success. The Yorkshireman returned to winning ways in February with a straightforward first-round TKO of Karim Berredjem and now will look to upset the odds against Hrgovic.

Hrgovic, who is ranked in the heavyweight top five with three governing bodies, has put together two wins since losing his IBF interim title and unbeaten record to Daniel Dubois in June 2024. The Croatian won decisions over Joe Joye and David Adeleye in back-to-back fights last year.

Allen and Hrgovic will come face-to-face for the first time at a launch press conference Tuesday in Doncaster.

“This is everything I’ve wanted,” Allen said. “A big fight, at home, in front of my own people. Nights like this don’t come around often, and I’m not letting it pass me by. I know how tough Hrgovic is, but I believe in myself, and I’ll be ready to give Doncaster a night to remember.”
