Former UFC champion Daniel Cormier did not take long to offer up his rebuttal to comments made by Nate Diaz recently.

During an appearance on a podcast earlier this week, Diaz went after Cormier, asking if he was bitter because he made more money while also mocking his crying inside the Octagon.

On Wednesday via his official YouTube channel, Cormier fired back. And the former U.S. Olympic wrestler did not hold back.

Daniel Cormier calls out Nate Diaz for his amount of defeats

“Let’s compare us,” Cormier said (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “Jon Jones. Stipe Miocic. That’s it. Koji Oishi, Hermes Franca, Clay Guida, Joe Stevenson, Gray Maynard, Rory MacDonald, Benson Henderson, Josh Thomson, (Rafael) dos Anjos, Conor McGregor, (Jorge) Masvidal, Leon Edwards. That’s 13 times. That’s 13 times to 13 people. This is mine. This is who I lost to (Jones and Miocic).

“I, in my life, I’m telling you for me, it’s hard for me to fathom losing to 13 people in the sport that you chose and when I lost those fights, I was in my mid-to-late 30s and two dudes were able to get me. You lost to 13 people.”

Cormier added that Diaz was in his “absolute athletic prime” when he suffered several of those losses, while stating, “you got beat multiple times by all these people. I was being respectful.”

Nate Diaz returns to action live on Netflix later this year

Diaz is set to return to the cage for the first time in several years when he faces Mike Perry on Netflix. The bout will be part of the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano event.

But Cormier did not stop there with his words on Diaz.

“The reality is you’re average,” he said. “You’ve always been. But you made a lot of money. That’s good. But you’re average. You can talk all you want now but it will never change the fact that you cannot go back in time, we can’t go back in time and make you better than you were.”

As for the moment when Cormier cried inside the Octagon that Diaz was mocking him for, “DC” said, “Nate, maybe you should have cried more and then maybe we would think you care about winning and losing.

“Maybe if you cried, you wouldn’t be OK with losing.”
