The Washington Commanders were in Ashburn today for the last practice of the week and also the first padded practice of the regular season. Dan Quinn gave some positive injury updates on Bill Croskey-Merritt (knee) and K’Lavon Chaisson (knee) who both participated today. Odafe Oweh (calf) will be back at practice next week, but Quinn wouldn’t commit to him being available for Week 1 until he sees his return on the field.
Quinn was happy with the leadership he’s seen from players this year, from veterans like Stefon Diggs, to first-round rookie Sonny Styles. Diggs has brought a fire and competitiveness to the team, and Styles will be calling plays on the field along with Frankie Luvu. Quinn said leadership is critical at the linebacker position, and Styles has shown that throughout the offseason and training camp/preseason.
