Dale Earnhardt Jr. went to Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway this week for a test session ahead of the zMAX CARS Tour race coming up April 11. Interestingly, it marked his first laps at the track since 1999, and naturally, that visit brought a wave of nostalgia for him. After he returned home, Earnhardt Jr. reflected on his experience, sharing insights on the track’s current condition, which also left a lasting impression on a former FOX broadcaster.

The visit clearly meant a lot to Dale Earnhardt Jr., considering it had been decades since he last raced at that track.

“It was emotional to make those laps yesterday,” Dale Jr. recalled. “Like visiting an old friend and realizing they were still the same person you always admired. I raced there a dozen times in the mid-1990s when it was a hotbed for late model stocks. You’d have 30 cars for a weekly 100-lap feature. It was amazing.”

His comments caught the attention of former FOX broadcaster Kenny Wallace, who shared his admiration for the way Dale Earnhardt Jr. was trying to protect a piece of racing history.
