CARLSBAD, Calif. — The Cyclonitas finished just one stroke short of qualifying for the match play portion of the tournament, where the top eight programs compete for the national championship. Senior Pammy Chookaew finished her career tied for 23rd at Omni La Costa, which stands as the third-highest NCAA individual finish in the history of the program. Chookaew recorded a 75 in her final round, including a birdie on the 11th hole, for a four-day total of 289 (+1).

Sophomore Alexandra Vidal secured the program’s fourth-best NCAA finish by tying for 34th with a total of 292 (+4). Notably, Vidal and Chookaew are the first set of teammates in program history to both place in the Top 50 at the NCAA Championships. Vidal’s final round tally of 81 featured birdies on the 1st and 14th holes.

Senior Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn carded a 75 in her last round to finish in a tie for 58th with a four-round total of 298 (+10), recording two birdies during the day. Sophomore Isabella Yan ended the tournament tied for 64th with a 299 (+11) after shooting a 79 in the final round, highlighted by a birdie on the second hole.

The team’s best final-round score was posted by sophomore Nichakorn Pinprayoon, who shot a 74. Pinprayoon, who tied for 68th overall with a 300 (+12), was one of three players on the team to record multiple birdies, including two within her first four holes.

Conditions were challenging during the final round, as only two of the top 15 teams finished under par, while eight of those teams were double-digits over par. No. 1 Stanford claimed the top seed for match play at 22-under par and is set to face No. 11 Pepperdine. The Waves finished at 11-over par, successfully claiming the final spot in the match play bracket by a single stroke over the Cyclones.
