Iowa second baseman Hayden Cantrelle was activated off the Development List

Iowa outfielder Greg Jones went on the injured list.

The Midwest League postseason All-Star Team was announces and two South Bend Cubs were named to the team. Josiah Hartshorn was the team’s first baseman and Jackson Brockett was named as one of two relievers.

Hartshorn hit .297/.405/.560 with 18 home runs and 12 steals in 83 games for South Bend.

Brockett made 17 appearances for South Bend and was 7-2 with a 1.79 ERA and three saves in 50.1 innings. He struck out 54 and walked just 12 in that span.

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs calmed the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals), 3-2.

Starter Connor Noland absolutely dominated the Storm Chasers over five innings, allowing no runs and no hits. Noland struck out six and walked two.

Jordan Wicks relieved Noland in the sixth and gave up a solo home run to the first batter he faced. Wicks’ final line was two runs on five hits over 2.2 innings. He struck out two and walked one.

Gabe Klobostis retired the side in order in the ninth inning for the save. Klobostis struck out one.

The I-Cubs managed just four hits tonight, but three of them were the first three batters of the fourth inning, which led to three runs. Catcher Owen Ayers doubled, first baseman Kevin Alcántara singles and then left fielder Chas McCormick doubled them both home. McCormick would come around to score later in the inning on a Jordan Nwogu sac fly.

Ayers went 1 for 4 with the double. Alcántara was 1 for 4. McCormick went 1 for 4 with the double.
