WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Cumberland’s women wrapped up play at the Rohrman Invitational on Tuesday, finishing fifth overall in the team standings with a three-round total of 1,003.
Marian (Ind.) claimed the team title at 943, while Indiana Wesleyan followed in second at 955.
The Phoenix were led by junior Matilda Lind, who placed seventh individually with a three-round score of 239. Lind opened the tournament with a strong 70 in the first round before closing with scores of 85 and 84 to secure her first top-10 finish of the fall season.
Lucy Labdon provided steady play across all three days, carding consecutive rounds of 81 after an opening 85 to finish tied for 20th at 247 to tie for 20th. Crystal Zamzow was close behind in 26th, posting an 84-86-85 for a 255 total. Franziska Mramor tied for 37th at 263 (85-89-89), while Caitlyn Bilham turned in her best round of the event on Tuesday with an 88, closing at 278 for 43rd place. Competing as an individual, Katelyn DeHart placed 49th with a 304 after rounds of 103, 99, and 102.
Cumberland returns to action Sept. 22-23 at the Carey Collegiate at Canebrake Country Club.
Men move up one spot to finish eighth
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Cumberland’s men moved up one spot on the final day of their season opener Tuesday to finish in eighth place at the Rohrman Invitational.
Cumberland posted their best score of the tournament shooting a 304 in the final round. The Phoenix finished with 933 total shots. Marian won the tournament by 23 strokes with 883 shots. Campbellsville finished in second place at 906 and the Cumberlands were third at 907.
Gustav Fredriksson fired a two-under par 70 in his final round of the tournament to skyrocket up the leaderboard. He finished as Cumberland’s low scorer with a 231 total strokes in a tie for 16th. Fredriksson started the day birdie-birdie on No. 1 and No. 2 playing the front nine at one-under. He added three-straight birdies on No. 13, 14, and 15 to get four-under, but finished his round bogey-bogey to post a 70.
Patrick Chesnut and Carter Stroup finished tied for 23rd with 234 total strokes. Chesnut shot his best round of the tournament in the final round to finish with a five-over 77. Chesnut carded one birdie on No. 11 with 12 pars, four bogeys, and one double in his round. Stroup shot a six-over 78 with three birdies, eight pars, five bogeys and two doubles.
Bailey Rousseau finished with an 83 in his final round to total 241 strokes in a tie for 40th. Harry Cagill and Carlos Diaz ended up tied for 47th with 245 total strokes. Cagill posted a 79 with three birdies and Diaz shot an 85 with two birdies.
The Phoenix will be in action Sept. 29-30 at the UPike Fall Invitational.
