The Corning Community Food Pantry will be holding its largest and most profitable fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Willowcreek Golf Club in Big Flats.

This captain and crew golf tournament will begin at 10 a.m. with signups and registration, and at 11 a.m. the event will tee it up and get things rolling with a shotgun start.

Entry fee for the tournament is $400 per four-person team. That fee includes 18 holes of golf with cart, a grab and go hotdog at the turn and will be followed by a dinner at the course where they will hand out all awards that were won during the event. They will also have raffle prizes, a 50/50 raffle and a skins game for an extra fee. They will also award the top three teams with cash prizes. First place is worth $500 while $350 goes to the second-place team and the third-place team will take home $150.

All proceeds from the tournament will go to the Corning Community Food Pantry, which serves those in the Corning area who are in need of help in feeding their families. Last year the pantry provided over 282,000 meals to over 22,000 individuals with over 309,000 pounds of food. This is a non-profit organization that is supported by over 75 volunteers, who last year worked well over 11,000 hours.

If you can’t enter a team into the tournament, there are many ways to support the event. For $2,500 a platinum sponsor will get two entries into the tournament and signage all over the golf course. A gold sponsor will also get course signage and one team entry. The dinner sponsor will have signage at the after-event dinner and get one team entry. A silver sponsor for $750 gets signage while a Lunch sponsor will have sole signage at the turn. For $400 you can sponsor the beverage cart and the water cart signage can be had for $225. Anyone or any business may sponsor a hole with a $175 donation.

For more information, visit the website at www.corningfoodpantry.com or send an email to [email protected]. Any inquiries will be handled by tournament chairman Cherie Crozier.

To enter a team, contact Crozier at the addresses above or send a completed entry with payment to Corning Community Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1255, Corning, N.Y., 14830. All checks, whether they be for a team entry or a donation, should be made out to the food pantry.
