Anyone who follows the antics of Conor McGregor knows that he brings a bottle of Proper No.12 whiskey to every party he goes to, as well as a few places where alcohol is less appropriate.

McGregor and his partners began the Irish whiskey brand in September 2018 while at his peak of fame before selling their majority stake to Proximo Spirits in 2021 for around $600 million.

Now, that same company has cut ties with McGregor, who had remained the public face of the drink as well as a beer variety, Irish Forged Stout. 

This comes a few hours after large Irish retailers like Tesco, Supervalu, and others announced they would no longer be carrying the drinks.

The moves are no doubt linked, as Proximo must hope that the biggest retailers in Ireland will put their products back on the shelves for customers. 

This is yet another in a string of brands cutting ties with ‘the Notorious’ after the MMA star was found liable for rape in the civil assault case brought against him by Nikita Hand. 

Along with the drink retailers and Proximo Spirits, IO Interactive also removed all downloadable Conor McGregor content from their Hitman: World of Assassination online game.
