Nikita Hand sued the former UFC double champion Conor ‘Notorious’ McGregor for damages for rape in a 2018 case which the gardaí, the Irish police force, declined to pursue criminal charges for.

However, a civil court has decided today, November 22nd 2024, that the evidence is enough for them to agree that McGregor owes Hand damages in the form of €248,603 (around $260,000 US) for her suffering and financial damages following the traumatic event.

Legal costs for the plaintiff are estimated to be in the range of €1.5 million; whether McGregor is to pay for Ms. Hand’s lawyers is to be discussed next Thursday.

Conor’s co-defendant, James Lawrence, was declared innocent, but the 35-year-old mother of one’s recollection of McGregor’s brutal assault on her person, as well as the rape kit and psychological examinations done afterwards by doctors, were enough to convict the MMA star.

McGregor was present with his long-time fiancée Dee Devlin, as well as his parents. They left to a swarm of media activity after declining to comment on the result of the trial.

Paul Healy covered the trial live for the Irish Daily Star and was first to report on the outcome.
