Former UFC champion Conor McGregor surprised many when he appeared inside the boxing ring as part of a special Good Friday show in his native country of Ireland.
McGregor, who continues to make headlines with talks of a potential return to the UFC growing stronger and stronger, competed over three rounds. The bout took place from the Crumlin Boxing Club in Dublin, Ireland.
According to Irish Boxing, McGregor scored a pair of standing eight-counts during the bout. He was wearing protective gear throughout.
McGregor, a two-division champion in the UFC, has one professional boxing match on his resume. He fought and lost to Floyd Mayweather in 2017 via 10th round TKO.
Conor McGregor would be massive draw for Paramount+
The 37-year-old McGregor owns a record of 22-6 inside the cage, but has lost his last two – both coming to Dustin Poirier. His last official victory occurred in 2020 when he stopped Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.
McGregor has always been a massive draw, so bringing him back into the fold with the new Paramount+ deal seems to be a key strategy for the UFC. He has appeared in the main event of eight different pay-per-view cards that generated over one million buys.
