Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. didn’t rule out a potential stint on injured reserve when speaking to reporters after the team’s 20-17 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

“We did consider every single option,” Pittman said, per ESPN’s Stephen Holder. “And, honestly, [injured reserve] is still not off the table. But as long as I’m feeling, like, good and I can go out there and win routes, then I’ll be out there.”

The 27-year-old was listed as questionable with a back injury heading into the game, but he was able to suit up and catch three passes for 35 yards.

This included an impressive go-ahead touchdown catch in the fourth quarter, helping the Colts take a 20-17 lead.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday that the receiver was expected to be sidelined for “multiple weeks” due to the back issue, with injured reserve as an “option.”

Pittman’s effort to get on the field and remain effective while still considering an IR placement was impressive, with Colts head coach Shane Steichen praising his performance after the game.

“Toughest guy I’ve ever been around,” Steichen said, via Holder. “When we needed a play, he made the big-time play.”

After recording a career-high 1,152 yards in 2023, Pittman caught 22 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown during his 2024 campaign prior to Sunday’s action. The former second-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft has been a consistent contributor for Indianapolis, surpassing 900 receiving yards in each of the past three seasons.

He was rewarded with a three-year, $70 million contract extension in March.

Pittman wasn’t the only Colts receiver battling through an injury against the Titans, as Josh Downs was also listed as questionable with a toe injury ahead of the game. He still played, finishing with a team-high 66 yards and a touchdown.

While Pittman acknowledged that he may end up on injured reserve, he was able to play through the back issue and help Indianapolis improve to 3-3.
