Roberto De Zerbi is engaged in deep personal reflection over his future at Olympique de Marseille, questioning whether he has become “definitively the problem” at the club, according to RMC Sport.
A decision could be taken as early as this week, the report from correspondent Florent Germain adds. While the Italian coach is said to feel hurt and betrayed by sections of his squad, he continues to retain the backing of Marseille’s hierarchy.

Those revelations come amid wider concerns inside the club, with L’Équipe reporting that the atmosphere within Olympique de Marseille has significantly deteriorated in recent months, leaving players increasingly uneasy about working conditions under De Zerbi.
“None of this makes any sense anymore, and the players are starting to see it. We’re close to breaking point,” a source close to the OM dressing room told L’Équipe.
Several players reportedly feel they are under constant surveillance, with strict monitoring extending well beyond tactical matters. Arrival and departure times at the Commanderie training centre are closely scrutinised, as are the duration of stretching routines and even the menus served in the canteen.
Beyond the atmosphere, there is also reportedly confusion surrounding De Zerbi’s sporting choices. Members of the squad and wider staff are said not to fully understand certain decisions, yet feel unable to openly challenge them.

More worryingly still, L’Équipe report a widespread feeling among players that they are not progressing in training, despite the demanding nature of the sessions.
Marseille come off the back of a turbulent start to the year, compounded by a 5–0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last weekend, further intensifying scrutiny on both the coach and the direction of the project.
