Clark County to Vote on Naming Streets After Late NASCAR Star Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch’s legacy could soon become a permanent part of Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Clark County is set to consider a proposal to formally name private drive aisles at the speedway after Busch and his brother, Kurt, according to NBC News’ Vegas station KSNV News 3. The proposal is scheduled for consideration at the Clark County Planning Commission’s September 15 meeting.

The move comes months after the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion died on May 21 at age 41. Busch’s family later revealed that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming complications.

Clark County Considers Kyle Busch Tribute

According to the county agenda, Nevada Speedway, LLC has submitted two street-name change requests involving private drive aisles at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. One proposal would formally name a drive aisle “Busch Brothers Drive,” while another would name a private drive aisle “Rowdy Road.” Both items are listed for possible action at the September 15 Planning Commission meeting.

The proposed Busch Brothers Drive would run along a portion of the existing private L-shaped drive connecting Las Vegas Boulevard North with Checkered Flag Lane. County records indicate the road has long been signed as “Eren Drive,” despite never being officially named.

The proposed names would recognize Kyle and Kurt Busch, with “Rowdy Road” referencing Kyle’s longtime nickname. The speedway says the Busch Brothers Drive proposal would also recognize the family’s longstanding ties to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, NASCAR, and the Southern Nevada community.

A Lasting Tribute to NASCAR Legend

The proposal carries added significance following Kyle Busch’s death earlier this year. Born and raised in Las Vegas, Busch became one of NASCAR’s most accomplished drivers. He won two Cup Series championships and 63 Cup Series races, while also establishing records across NASCAR’s other national series.

Busch’s record at Las Vegas Motor Speedway further underlines his connection to the track. The Las Vegas native won seven NASCAR national-series races at LVMS, including one Cup Series victory in 2009, two Xfinity Series wins in 2016 and 2019, and four Craftsman Truck Series victories in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2023. He is one of the few drivers to win at the speedway in all three of NASCAR’s national series.

His connection to LVMS has continued beyond his racing record. The speedway has announced the inaugural Kyle Busch Classic, which will be held at The Bullring on October 2 during NASCAR weekend and will honor Busch’s impact on grassroots racing.

The Speedway also paid tribute to Busch following his death, describing him as a prominent Las Vegas figure whose talent and passion had a major impact on motorsports and the local community.

For now, however, the proposed street names remain subject to approval. County addressing staff has no objection to the Busch Brothers Drive request and recommends approval, provided the speedway installs new street signs within 60 days if the change goes through. However, staff noted that there is already a street named “Rowdy,” which could pose an issue with the Combined Fire Communications Center.

If approved, Busch Brothers Drive and potentially Rowdy Road would give Kyle Busch’s name a permanent presence at his hometown track.
